You’re probably reading this article to find tips on how to stop dog barking, so it might sound odd when I say that first you should teach your dog to bark – on command that is.

To start this exercise your dog should be calm and relaxed.

Take your dog to your front door or where he usually hears someone knocking on the door or ringing the bell.

At this point he should not be expecting anything.

Now say “woof” as a command, and then straight away you knock on the door – just like a visitor would.

Now, your dog will of course see that it’s you that’s knocking, but he is pre-programmed to respond to that ‘knock knock knock’ sound. He will most likely start barking even though he knows it’s you.

You can even join him if you like and bark with him a few times (don’t worry about feeling silly, you are training your dog) At the same time praise him as he is barking, because he is doing what you have asked him to do, so you are rewarding him with praise and approval.

Remember, always praise your dog when he is doing what you want him to do. Conversely, withhold your praise and affection when your dog is displaying the wrong behaviour. That means no touching, no talking, no eye contact!

Now, after a good few barks it is time to teach him to “shush” on command.

Some experts tell you to have a treat ready to give him to distract him when you give the shush command. I disagree with this. A dog that is guarding and aroused isn’t likely to be interested in a bit of cheese or a biscuit at this point. He’s too busy doing his job!

No – simply say “shush” but in much quieter way than the “woof” command. Say it in the way that you would when someones talking but you suddenly hear an important news announcement coming through on the TV or the radio, and you don’t want to miss a word.

As you say the “shush” command to your dog, you can also give a quick little sideways pull on your dogs collar. This will draw his attention to you, and help break his barking cycle.

Your body language at this point should be still, as if someone has said “freeze – don’t move!” as though you’re holding your breath waiting for something.

If he starts to bark, or even growls, again give the “shush” command, even quieter now, maybe another little tug on the side of his collar, while you freeze and act like you’re listening out for something, keeping very still.

Hopefully you are communicating this body language to your dog, and he is remaining silent and listening along with you.

After a few moments of this, and when he looks like he has finished attempting to bark, and is now remaining silent with you, you can call a stop to the exercise. Spring back to life and tell him good boy or girl and give him affection and a cuddle and then move straight off on to something else and encourage him to come with you. In other words, you have now moved away from the exercise, and you are taking his attention elsewhere.

Practise this every day, and soon you will be able to tell your dog to “woof” and, most of all, to “shush” on command without knocking on the door.

Now remember that this “shush” command is to be used to stop unnecessary barking, when it is inappropriate. However if your dog feels he has genuine reason to bark, to raise the alarm or to warn away someone or something, then obviously you must take notice of what he is trying to do or tell you. To tell him to shush when his barking is appropriate could undermine the your efforts in training him to woof and shush and command.

Anyone who has owned a dog knows that at some point in time, they are going to bark too much. We know it’s just part of what they do, but excessive barking can cause friction with neighbors.

Whether it is excitement, danger, boredom, or some other reason, a dog can get into the habit of barking too much. So what to do?

If your dog is a problem barker and you’ve tried working with him or her to no avail to correct the issue, consider trying a pet safe bark collar.

There are many types of pet safe bark collars available on the market today to assist you in controlling your dog’s barking. The collars are activated by your dog’s bark through vibration or sound.

The spray collar releases a short burst of citronella scent that a dog’s highly developed sense of smell finds annoying, yet it is harmless.

>>Order the PetSafe No-Bark Collar Now. Low Prices And Fast Delivery<<

Most dogs will be conditioned over time to stop barking because of the static charge emitted each time they bark while wearing the collar.

Pet safe bark collars are a popular choice with dog owners who want humane and safe ways to stop problem barking.

Pet safe bark collars are battery operated and most are waterproof, too. Most manufacturers have a variety of sizes, from very small to very large. A good fit is important for the collar to work consistently and correctly.

Ultrasonic pet safe bark collars emit a harmless tone that is startling and unpleasant to your dog. These are most effective on small breeds and are set to your dog’s one-of-a-kind bark, so no other sounds can set off the collar.

The static collar (also known as an electronic bark or e-collar) releases a safe, gentle static shock when your dog barks. It’s no different than when you walk on a carpet during winter and touch an object or another person.

Some models allow you to set the level of stimulation or automatically and incrementally increase it as needed.

Reviews of the Pet Safe Collar Online

There are over 280 user reviews on Amazon.com, the majority of which are positive. However, some dog owenrs report that the collar frightens the dog too much, leading to other behavior problems. See all of the reviews by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

Dog Barking

When a dog has the tendency to bark at any small noise it hears it can be extremely frustrating for the owner and neighbors alike. Whether the dog is barking about people walking by outside or it is sensitive to noises around the home, a no bark collar can be the perfect solution.

While some may have the impression these are harmful for dogs, the reality is that it sends a small shock or piercing nose when the dog exhibits this bad behavior. The effect is not permanent and it will simply teach the dog not to bark when it wants to get their owners attention. No bark collars are fairly affordable and the perfect solution for those that want to quiet their dog without taking drastic measures.

A great way to ensure that the dog understands the instruction is to follow up with a treat. After the dog has barked and gets quiet from the collar, the owner can then offer them their favorite treat. This will show the dog that being quiet is the desired behavior and the collar is not designed to cause pain or extreme discomfort.

There are a wide assortment of no bark collars on the market today, ranging in size, style, and effectiveness. Many people opt for the most lightweight collar available because it will be fairly similar to the collar they already wear. Choosing one that is adjustable is also important, as the owner can change how severe the stimulation levels are. This ensures the dog is getting just the right amount of shock for it to be effective, without it being too harmful. While shock collars are popular, there are also models which shoot out a harmless spray to discourage barking, along with ones that emit a sound only dogs can hear.

Choosing a no bark collar can be difficult with the number of options which are available, but it can be made easier by testing them out or trying similar stimulations. If a dog reacts well to a simple stream of water or a piercing noise when they are barking, it is best to try out a collar that can have the same effect. Choosing the most lightweight collar is important so that they are not distracted by the new feel of a collar, along with opting for the effect that is going to make the biggest difference in deterring them from barking.

Does it ever seem that your dog feels the need to vocalize their every thought? They bark when they are excited, lonely, hungry, anxious, or even when they are bored.

While barking can be a very effective means of communication, like when communicating the need to go outside and use the bathroom, other times it can be extremely annoying.

Fortunately, there are safe and gentle ways to discourage your dog from barking, without spending weeks or months reprimanding your dog with little results.

One of the best ways to discourage your canine companion from barking is to use a gentle spray bark collar. These dog collars emit a citronella spray every time that your dog begins to bark.

Gentle spray bark collars are equipped with tiny sensors that can tell when your dog begins barking, so that you will never need to activate the spray or reprimand your pet.

A gentle spray dog collar is unlike other bark control collars, as this type of collar will never shock your dog or cause any pain at all. It will only emit a citronella spray, which dogs can smell, feel, see, and hear.

This spray is not irritating or dangerous, just annoying to most dogs, as they do not frequently come into contact with citronella. While the smell is not unpleasant to most people, dogs are not fond of the scent.

>>Order Gentle Spray Dog Collar Now. Low Prices And Fast Delivery<<

Another benefit of using a gentle spray dog collar is that it will train your dog not to bark, without involving you. Striking or hitting your dog sometimes causes the animal to associate your hand with pain or punishment.

While barking is an annoying habit, most dog owners do not want their pet associating them, or any of their body parts, with pain. Fortunately, these dog collars make it possible to train your dog not to bark, without “punishing” or causing them any pain.

The last benefit of using a gentle spray dog collar is their low cost. Not only are these collars less expensive than many shock collars, they are significantly more affordable than paying to have your dog trained.

You might be able to avoid the need for expensive dog training classes, which can be expensive and time consuming.

While gentle spray dog collars are less common than other bark control methods, these collars are rapidly gaining in popularity. Dog owners that are looking for a humane, pain-free method of training their dog will appreciate the humane and safe bark control that these collars provide.
One of the easiest and quickest ways how to Train A Dog To Stop Barking is to control your dogs want to in the first place.

It’s a fact that all dogs bark, it is only their way to communicate.

Dogs bark for many and various reasons: to greet, to alert, out of boredom or frustration, to attract you or others attention or when excited. To answer the question “Discover How To Train A Dog To Stop Barking“, especially when it has become a problem is not easy.

1. Get your dog to bark. Find out what starts him off on a regular basis. May be it is a ringing doorbell or knocking on your door.

2. When your dog starts , go up to your dog, give the command “quiet” or “stop” what ever command word you have settled on. Do not shout as it does not help.

3. If the command word “Quiet” stops him, praise and reward him.

4. If that does not work and he continues, put your hand around his muzzle and give the command for him to keep “quiet”. Again praise him if he stops. Most dogs will quickly learn the “quiet” command with repeated training such as this.

Consider other similar situations that your dog will start to bark and repeat this training technique whenever possible. If after repeated training sessions how to make a dog stop barking is still not working, Try this method:

1. Add water to a water pistol or squirter. A super-soaker kids water pistol is ideal for this.

2. Your goal is to aim at his body whenever he wont stop barking on your ” Quiet”command. Dogs hate water especially when its unexpected and will usually stop.

3. As in the first technique praise and reward him when he stops. These are just two simple techniques that you can put into action straight away when asking the question how to train a dog to stop barking.

Every dog is unique, and each dog expresses himself or herself differently. Some dogs will bark at everything, while others only bark on rare occasions.

Stop Your Dog Barking - Simple Steps

If you would like a simple 3-step solution you can use whenever your dog start barking at inappropriate times, then this post is what you’re looking for.

In particular we are going to talk about some of the reasons why your dog may be barking, knowing when to say stop, and some other possible solutions for the dog barking problem.

Before you try to stop your dog barking, you need to ask yourself this:

Why is your dog barking in the first place?

You see, all dogs bark for a reason. Some of these reasons can be good and bad. Your dog is very likely to bark if he sees someone suspicious walking towards your home, as an example. Your dog does this to protect you, and warn you that someone is approaching. Your dog will bark as a form of warning, or if something out-of-the-ordinary is happening.

Not every form of barking a problem. Many dogs only seem to bark when they are feeling bored and would like someone to pay them some attention. Keep in mind that for dogs, all attention is good attention whether its negative or positive. You should try and correct this behavior before it becomes a problem.

Correcting this behavior is easy when you know when to say stop. Simply follow these three steps which I’m going to provide below:

Step 1

When a stranger approaches your house or yard, your dog will start to bark. Praise this behavior immediately.

Step 2

Try to stop your dog from barking too many times, just enough to satisfy his need to alert you. After a few barks, tell your dog to stop, and give him a treat or toy to show them you have heard their warning, and to distract them from further barking.

Step 3

When your dog takes the toy from you, give them plenty of praise when they stop barking.

Now don’t be discouraged if this doesn’t work on the very first try. By doing these three simple steps whenever someone approaches your house or yard, your dog should soon pick up on when it’s time to stop barking.

Make Time for Socializing and Exercise

How to Stop Dog Barking

Spending plenty of times around your dog, and giving them lots of attention when they are being quiet will help to prevent your dog from being bored, and thus developing a barking problem.

There are also a few other things you can try in addition to these steps. For example, you can use the squirt bottle filled with tap water along with the command “stop” or “enough” to help stop your dog from barking. You should try this if all else fails, but it’s better to use positive reinforcement first.

Making sure you be persistent is the key to fixing your dog’s behavior problems. You should always praise your dog for good behavior.

In conclusion, I have shown you the reasons why your dog bark, knowing when to say stop and other solutions to stop your dog from barking. Now that you’ve read this guide, you should you should know some important information about how to stop a dog from barking!

Make the Barking Stop

One of the most common problems that people have with training their dogs is getting it to stop barking. Constant barking is a problem that will get under your skin and will only get worse as your dog gets older. In fact, some adult dogs are almost impossible to train once this has become a habit. So, the key is to get them trained before it becomes a habit.

In this article were going to take a look at some of the things that you can do to control dog barking.

The first step to learning how to stop dog barking is finding out why your dog is barking. This isn’t always as obvious as you might think. You might have a nasty neighbor who likes to tease your dog. A large number of dog owners have no clue that their dog is doing so much barking when they are not around. There may be some neighbors kids who walk by everyday and throw stones and scream at your dog. There are times when you will have to think outside the box.

Once you know what is causing your dog to bark you can go about training your dog. There are some cases where training won’t even be needed. For the examples above you would need to move your dog inside to stop your annoying neighbors from bothering your dog.

Boredom – One Reason Why Dog is Barking

Another very common reason dogs bark is out of boredom. This is often when your dog just keeps barking and barking for no apparent reason. When your dog gets bored like this take him/her for a long walk. If the dog is still barking when you come back, then you may have a different problem all together.

If your are really stuck with this barking problem you may want to consider some devices or collars. Allot of people hate shock collars, but they can be very effective for some dogs. The real key is to use the shock collar correctly. A good option is to look for a collar that lets you play around with the shock settings. This makes sure that your dog will not be harmed in anyway.

>>Order the PetSafe No-Bark Collar Now. Low Prices And Fast Delivery<<

Do remember to start your training with defining why your dog is barking first. This will make the training allot easier. Many dog owners simply don’t understand why their dog is barking in the first place. This can often lead to a frustrated dog owner and frustrated dog too. Yes, the barking could be as much of a problem for your dog as it is for you.

Home Parvo treatment for your dog is a perfectly practical and effective option, compared to the usual approach of having your dog treated at the animal hospital, even though you may meet considerable resistance to this idea.

If you’re not convinced, then here are a few facts to consider to help you make up your mind.

Read the rest of the Parvo Treatment:

Table of Contents (click ahead!)
Cost| Success Rate|Care| Time and Effort| Summary|

How Much Will It Cost?

If you have your Parvo dog treated at the animal hospital, it will probably cost you anywhere from $500 USD to over $10,000 USD per dog.

On the other hand, if you administer Parvo treatment to your dog in the comfort of your own home, using a Parvo home treatment kit, then you can treat one or more dogs (depending on their weight) for much less than $500 USD, and that includes FedEx Priority Overnight shipping (anything else is just too slow, so don’t be tempted by offers of free shipping on some websites – this free shipping is more often than not US Postal Service Priority Mail, but if you wait for that, your dog can be dead by the time your package arrives).

Success Rate

Most vets will give dog owners a 50% chance of their dog surviving Parvo, with the lowest we’ve heard being a 33% chance, and the highest an 80% chance.

Alternatively, if you treat your Parvo dog at home using the safe, natural products that are available, then the survival rate is typically 90%.

Part of this increased success rate is because treating your dog at home, yourself, is less stressful for both you and your dog, and reduced stress results in an improved chance of your dog surviving this horrific virus.

Support that’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the unparalleled Parvo vPETS service (constant phone contact every four to five hours during the first couple of days of full treatment – this does include ALL hours of the day, nights, weekends, holidays, etc. since Parvo doesn’t take a break or mount an attack to suit your schedule) if you can find it, can also increase your dog’s chance of beating Parvo, but you certainly won’t get this from most vets.

Care

If you leave your dog at the vet’s, then it is highly likely that nobody will be in attendance over night, so your dog may well be by himself, or possibly with other sick dogs, for about 12 hours.

However, with home Parvo treatment, then you will be there, with him, 24 hours a day.

Remember, dogs, just like many other animals, are very receptive to emotions (or “vibes”, as they’re often known), and being surrounded by people who genuinely care and love for them will help in their recovery.

Time & Effort

If you have enough disposable income and you accept the relatively low chances of success offered by vets, then you can basically leave your dog there and collect him again, assuming that he survives, in a few days’ time.

If you take the home Parvo treatment route, however, then there will be a few nights without sleep, because one of the four products in the Parvo home treatment kit does need to be given every single hour (and, yes, that does mean both day and night) during the first two days of the four-day course of treatment.

Summary

There are many good reasons why it makes sense to treat your dog at home if he has Parvo – the lower cost and increased survival rate are the two most obvious ones.

There is one downside to administering the home Parvo treatment, and that is the time and effort it will take, but this is a necessary part of treating your dog at home, and the rewards, when you see your practically terminally-ill and almost unrecognizable doggie come through this often fatal virus, more than compensate for a few nights without sleep.

You may think that vaccinations are the way to stop your dog getting Parvo, but there are a huge number of problems with administering shots to your dog (which is a whole other story), so the best and arguably only way to be prepared is to make sure you have the necessary products on hand at all times – that way, if your dog should be infected by the Parvo virus, you’ll be able to start treatment at once, even if it’s 5:00am on a Sunday morning, when you’ll almost certainly struggle to find an animal hospital open.
