Stop Your Dog from Barking

You just got a new dog. Your excited about it and have decided on a name. Now that you have it home you have to train it.

One of the first problems most dog owners have is teaching their dog when it is okay to bark and when it is not okay to bark. In this article we will take a look at a few ways you can get started training quickly.

Positive Reinforcement Techniques

Positive reinforcement is the first thing you have to make your dog understand. When it doesn’t bark upon your request it will be rewarded with a treat. If your dog does not obey your command then you will not give it a treat.

Why is Your Dog Barking?

Is there a reason your dog is doing all that barking? This is the most important question you need to ask yourself. If you know why your dog is barking you can train it much more easily. Is your dog just bored? Do you have a lonely dog? Are your neighbors teasing it while he is outside? Find out the reason and then address that reason.

It’s important that you assign your dog a command for when you want it to stop barking. For example, you could say “No Bark”. Make sure that you assign your dog a certain behaviour to go along with the command, also. You may want your dog to sit or go lay down upon your command.

>>Order Citronella Spray Collars Now. Low Prices And Fast Delivery<<

Crate Training

The third tip is to crate train your dog. The crate can be used to put your dog in if he doesn’t obey your command. This is a great way to handle things if your dog barks at people who come to the door. On the other hand this won’t work if your dog is bored and lonely.

What Is Acceptable

The fourth tip is to decide how you want your dog to really respond. Many people do not like it when their dog barks at someone who comes to the door. But how bad really is that? Your dog is simply trying to warn you. You may want to allow your dog to bark three times and then respond a certain way. For example, you could let your dog bark three times and then go sit by the door.

Anti Barking Devices

Citronella Spray Collars

The fifth tip is to use a stop barking collar if nothing else seems to work. Shock collars are not as bad as most people think they are because you do have some control over the amount of shock. Keep in mind that there are other types of collars you can use besides a shock collar.

Teaching your dog how to stop barking isn’t going to be easy. You should get started right now before your dogs barking gets even worse. So, put a few of these stop dog barking techniques to good use before things do get worse.

Are you encouraging your dog to be a barker, without realizing it? Did you know that yelling at the dog nearly always makes the behavior worse?

Some dogs seem to bark for no reason at all. You might be surprised to learn, however, that boredom may be the ‘no reason at all’ problem. And you can take some simple steps right away to remedy the problem, like making sure that your pooch has toys. Also, make sure that he gets plenty of exercise.

Are you making your dog’s excessive barking worse?

Excessive barking is often a two-way street. (Yes, that means that sometimes the dog owner is just as guilty as the dog!) Here are some great insights from a dog behavior specialist.

If you are a dog owner, you have no doubt experienced the frustration of excessive barking.

You may have tried yelling at the dog. We’ve all done it. It does NOT work. Maybe you tried on of those electric shock collars. They are not that effective either. (In my opinion, they are not humane either)

So how do you stop your barking dog?

We will look at some of the causes for excessive barking and refer you to several solutions to keep you and your best friend on good terms.

After all, if your dog continues barking and barking, whenever she feels like it, you might find yourself on the receiving end of an expensive fine. Your neighbors may come to despise you, simply because of your dog’s bad behavior. If you live in an apartment, you may even get an eviction notice, if you are unable (or unwilling) to correct the barking problem.

It’s important to remember what a dog trainer friend of mine once told me…

He said, “There are very few BAD dogs. Mostly BAD owners…” So to stop the barking dog problem, a permanent solution will include some owner training as well.
